The Redjang-Lebong Mining Company
The Redjang-Lebong Mining company was one of the more successful Mining companies in the Benkoelen District (Benkulu) on Sumatra. The company was founded founded in 1897 as "Goudexploratie maatschappij Redjang Lebong" with explorationconcessions in the Lebong district. The first Bullions yielded enough Silver and Gold that a Mining concession was obtained on January 28th, 1899. Following the first succesful probes the companies name was changed to "Mijnbouw Maatschappij Redjang-Lebong" on March 19th 1898. In the following decades the company further exploited this famous Rejang-Lebong Goldmine and expanded mining operations to include Manganese, Antimony, Lead, Zinc and Copper ores. One of the mines exploited by the company is the type locality of the mineral Uytenbogaardite !!
